TAM Airlines

My boyfriend and I booked multiple flights on Tam to travel to brazil from LAX and throughout different cities in The country for World Cup. The service on the flights was just ok but the real issue for us started on our flights leaving Brazil to return home. We received a notification via email stating that my itinerary was canceled and reassigned from business class to economy literally the day before travel (my boyfriend was still booked for his original business class seat). When we called to fix the reservation, they told us they were unsure how this happened but we would have to book and pay for an entirely new ticket for me to get my original business class seat again.we were upset, but willing to deal with me sitting apart from each other in different classes (even though I paid for a business class ticket). The real kicker was the next day when we went to check in at GRU international airport in Sao Paulo. The check-in desk said that now my boyfriend's itinerary was also cancelled just that morning due to "overbooked flight." As you can imagine we were very frustrated at this point and we we're told to go to the TAM service office in Sao Paulo to resolve the issue. At the Tam office, the man who helped us told us he was unsure how the reservation got cancelled and now since the flight is over booked it was impossible for him to out my boyfriend back on the flight.. He told us that the next flight leaving back to LAX wouldn't be available until July 3rd (5 days later!) and that my boyfriend would need to purchase another ticket in order for them to put him on that flight. I asked for a representative who spoke English in which he informed me that there was no one. All of a sudden a lady with a british accent came out from the back (speaking perfect English), right after he told us that there was no one who spoke English that works there. I was losing my temper. It was obvious that this airline was trying to steal our money and acted very unsympathetic to the fact that all of the circumstances affecting us were completely their fault! They wanted to charge us for cancelled itineraries that we paid the full price for that they cancelled internally for an overbooked flight without our consent?! Even worse without any notice!! Is that even legal?? We ended up having to fly separately and he had to book another completely different ticket with a completely different airline (another $2000 to get home that we had to come out-of-pocket for!).. They wouldn't even provide so much as a voucher, even considering the money that we lost from their error ($5000 or my cancelled business class itinerary and his entire itinerary)! After this experience and the fact that TAM has no regard for customer service or even any regard to humanity period, we will obviously NEVER fly TAM airlines again to Travel in South America. They are cheap, inconsiderate thieves who deserve to be bankrupt! We want to warn everyone who is considering TAM as their airline of choice to rethink your decision. You could be a victim of their incompetent and corrupt ways of doing business. Don't be fooled, choose another airline and you won't regret it! TAM Airlines is by FAR the worst airline (I travel at least 15-20 times a month) that I have ever experienced. They will steal your money and will do anything to make your trip as inconvenient (and costly!) as possible. Do yourself a favor, and do NOT fly TAM Airlines. They are frauds!

I had my flight cancelled for the return to the U.S. as well, yet they kept the entire $2000 for the round-trip ticket!

THIEVES! I despise this airline.

TAM airlines abusive wrongful and unnecessary excess luggage fees

TAM’s abusive, unfair and unnecessary overweight baggage fees I traveled from Salvador Bahia Brazil (return) to East London South Africa via Johannesburg as an invited guest of South Africa’s arts & culture department Upon returning to Brazil I was unjustly charged overweight luggage fees for my suitcase 26 kilos and duty free wines & amarula I bought at dtuy free in Johannesburg airport (TAMBO) TAM claims that my ticket was bought separately and that I only have a right to 23kilos between Sap Paulo & Salvador bahia 5 kilo carry on And no duty free I see as I was a target of biased profiling I traveled for 9 – 10 days Left Salvador bahia with same carry on which was not weighed in because it constituted that I had an international connection via sao Paulo My luggage on way out was 24 kilos No problem Leaving cape town dec 8 2012 it was 24 kilos there also In Sao Paulo my suitcase weighed in at 26 kilos (like me gained weight on the flight) Independently as an international flight connection I have a right to 2 32 kilo suitcases!!! And my international duty free all I was bringing was 9 of 12 wine/amarula bottles allowed by Brazilian customs laws Harassed in SP by TAM connecting flight agents that my ticket was bought separately this is what was sent to me by my hosts --- on way out of brazil no issues with luggage weight retrun I am told tkt purchased separtely: YOUR ITINERARY PASSENGER(S): ALICIAMS SANABRIA BOOKING REF: 8LL5I6 ISSUE DATE: 24 NOVEMBER 2012 CONTACT INFORMATION ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- AGENCY: SURE ROYAL TRAVEL HEAD OFFICE 112 COWEY ROAD .

Pet traveling denial

In February I paid for two tickets for me and my fiancé to travel on April 11 of 2012 from JFK to Rio de Janeiro. I have dual citizenship and he is american, and we would be taking our two dogs with us. So I called in March to confirm the booking of the dogs and our flight. I was told that I had to call next week to see if the bookings were confirmed but it shouldn't be a problem for traveling if I had all the proper documentation necessary. So, I called the following week and they told me that they hadn't heard back but to call the following week and so forth that went on.. so, meanwhile, I took both the dogs to the vet to get their shots, sent the documents to Albany to get approval by the Department of Agriculture which only has validation for 10 days. So, after all that, I called TAM today April 10 just to see if everything was okay and was told that my request was denied. So I asked the reason and got the answer that they were all booked but that I had to call my travel agency where I had gotten the tickets, change the date, pay the $150 fine for changing the dates, then request again with a minimum of 24 hours the booking for both dogs to fly. However, this time, the agent advised that I could be again denied for that flight too. This is not a free service and they are not doing me a favor, just for the dogs to fly on the same flight cost $300. I asked if there was a way that I could check when a flight was available for both dogs to fly and that I could book that, then pay the fine to re-book my flight, but I was told that it was not their procedure and there was nothing they could do. I felt like I was being handled after staying on the phone for more than 1 hour while they were checking with a supervisor on what they should tell me. I got a lot of apologies but nothing got resolved, I don't understand why I need to pay out of my pocket to change dates when there is no guarantee to take the dogs with me. I did nothing wrong. This seemed outrageous to me to keep paying fines and request the dogs to fly but to be denied. How is this common sense? Why did it take TWO MONTHS of me calling to be denied the day before I fly out!!?? I have already rented a vehicle to drive to the airport which I now also have to pay to extend the days for the fact that we are moving to Rio and had to sell both our vehicles. Just seems like I am paying money that I don't have since I am not working when it's not my fault for a *** procedure on their part. They did not seem interested in resolving this with me. What can I do?

TAM Lost &Stolen Property

I was a passenger on flight from New York to Rio. Mistakenly I left on board (5:30AM) I immediately realized my mistake and tried to recover my property, : 1) the door was closed when I returned, 2) no TAM employees at the gate 3) my connecting flight was leaving I had to leave. I know for a fact that the people who cleaned the plane know or stoled my wallet and the two computer tablets They never turned in my wallet and two tablet computers. Of course TAM is ignore my inquiry. THIS AIRLINE IS VERY UNFRIENDLY AND NOT VERY REPEATABLE

You accuse the airline employees when you have no knowledge if another passenger may have picked up the items that YOU so CARELESSLY LEFT behind. Your own fault, NOT the airline employee. Grow up and take responsibility for your actions!
